RAPID CITY, S.D.(KOTA)- As much as 750 acres are believed to be burned north of Rapid City, as the Auburn Fire continues to be battled today.
No structures or lives have been reported lost at this time, though evacuation orders remain in place for some residents on the active fronts of fire.
Tessa Jaeger, public information officer for the Rapid City Fire Department said the largescale response continues into today.
Great progress was made overnight as a result of favorable conditions, putting the fire at 25 percent containment.
Jaeger said the difference between 0 percent and 25 percent containment shouldn’t go understated.
Difficult weather conditions are forecasted to continue during the days in the Black Hills, with highs in the 90’s expected today.
Jaeger said she’s confident the crews can handle it.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
