OGLALA, S.D.(KOTA)- An extended meeting of the Army Corps of Engineers in Oglala has brought the Dakota Access Pipeline back into focus, as well as the dissenting voices from the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

President Kevin Killer reiterated the official governmental stance of the OST.

Killer argued the pipeline, operating without a USACE easement under Lake Oahe, should be stopped immediately.

The Pine Ridge Reservation, as a result of federal law, gets its water from a source downstream from the pipeline.

Nick Tilsen, President of NDN Collective and citizen of the Oglala Lakota Nation is a longtime opponent of the pipeline, and suggested the situation fits into a larger trend.

Questions were asked regarding Tribal treaty rights relating to article 6 of the US Constitution, and many in attendance expressed feelings of being ignored.
