WEBSTER, S.D.(KXLG)- Earlier this week at the Day County Sherriff’s office, Ryan Rucktaeschel stepped down as Sherriff after winning the elected position in 2018.
We received a statement from Ryan:
“I leave Day County in good hands with sheriff Jerred Schreur. I wanted to give Jerred some time to get established and prove to the residents he can do the job. I have enough years of law enforcement in and time to go to a job with way less stress. Tired of the 24/7 phone calls and not having quality time with friends and family. Life is to short.”
KXLG reached out to the newly appointed Sherriff Jerred Schreur for his background.
Sherriff Schreur is excited to stay on board and plans to run for re-election in 2022.
Sherriff Schreur wishes Ryan good luck in his future endeavors.
