SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,220. The state had 395 new cases and 331 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,625. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 179.

So far, South Dakota has had 152,603 cases and 144,758 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new cases and 11 recoveries. The county currently has 248 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,596 cases and 6,248 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,184 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,488 and Lincoln County with 10,180, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,520, Brookings with 5,087, Meade with 4,478, Lawrence with 4,291, and Davison with 3,712.

Statewide 444,820 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 67% of the state) with 373,199 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 40,450 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,629 receiving at least one shot & 17,698 completing vaccination.  1,972 receiving the booster shot.
