PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The pheasant hunting season didn’t disappoint when it comes to passengers using Pierre Regional Airport. Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga says over 2300 people used Pierre’s airport in October.
SkyWest carried 1,522 passengers while Denver Air Connection transported 852 flyers.
With two months of enplanements left to log, Pierre sits at 13-thousand 113. Denver Air has 2,633 since starting service to Devner in July. SkyWest, since losing the Essential Air Service contract for Pierre and flying without a subsidy has carried 5039 passengers. The passenger traffic overcame a major road construction project on the main road into the airport.
The B Street detour remains in place for access to general aviation and other non-commercial airport traffic.
