YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Several parents spoke to the Yankton School Board at their meeting last night, asking them to roll back, or modify the mandatory face mask policy.
Stacy Nickels said the board is overstepping its authority.
Nickels said she had petitions with seven hundred signatures asking for the changes.
Board member Franni Kieffer thanked the parents for their comments.
The board policy is to continue the face mask mandate until county Covid-19 infection numbers fall into the low category. The latest numbers from the Department of Health show Yankton County at a high level of community spread, with one hundred sixty-seven active cases. The board took no immediate action on the request.
