RAPID CITY, S.D.(KOTA)- Wednesday was the second and final day of the Range Beef Cow Symposium, hosted at the Monument in Rapid City this year.
Among the professors, producers, and major players of the cattle industry was a booth from the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, represented by executive director James Halverson.
Halverson took some time to explain who attends and benefits most from events like these.
Halverson said there is one thing cattle producers want people outside the ag industry to know.
Halverson questioned the clarity of the livestock market; status quo.
Halverson contrasted the packer market with the “cash market”, which comprises a much smaller percentage of the livestock trade.
Halverson represented the SDSGA at the 2021 Range Beef Cow Symposium, which was hosted in Rapid City this week.
