PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,328. The state had 575 new cases and 394 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,253. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 234.
So far, South Dakota has had 164,867 cases and 155,286 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 18 new cases and 24 recoveries. The county currently has 337 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,202 cases and 6,762 recoveries. There’s currently 103 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 39,703 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,438 and Lincoln County with 10,884, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,959, Brookings with 5,333, Meade with 4,878, Lawrence with 4,668, and Davison with 4,014.
Statewide 475,241 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 64% of the state) with 427,445 completing vaccination(over 53% of the state). Statewide 112,308 have received the booster shot(over 14% of the state).
Brown County has 21,982 receiving at least one shot & 20,305 completing vaccination. 6,081 receiving the booster shot.
