SD Dept of Health reports 15 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 15 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,349. The state had 936 new cases and 477 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,222. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 249.

So far, South Dakota has had 167,144 cases and 157,573 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 45 new cases and 26 recoveries. The county currently has 321 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,299 cases and 6,874 recoveries. There’s currently 104 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 40,302 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,680 and Lincoln County with 11,064, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,055, Brookings with 5,389, Meade with 4,935, Lawrence with 4,720, and Davison with 4,064.

Statewide 477,411 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 64% of the state) with 429,978 completing vaccination(over 53% of the state).  Statewide 120,044 have received the booster shot(over 15% of the state).

Brown County has 22,020 receiving at least one shot & 20,380 completing vaccination. 6,386 receiving the booster shot.
