YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- A tri state water project could soon get the funding they need to get close to the finish line.
Executive Director Troy Larson says the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System will be included in a billion dollars of federal funding to the Bureau of Reclamation under the just passed infrastructure bill.
Larson says the funding will get them very close to the end.
Larson says they are waiting on details from the Bureau of Reclamation so they ramp up construction next spring and summer.
Larson says they have about one hundred forty million dollars of construction on the books to get water to all their members.
The project currently pipes water to towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota from wells near the Missouri River near Vermillion.
