SOUTH DAKOTA(WNAX)- The first drug to offer some benefits to those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease is now becoming available.

Aduhelm was approved for use by the FDA earlier this year.

Leslie Morrow, Executive Director of the Alzheimers Association of South Dakota, says it’s a glimmer of hope.

Morrow says the drug is the first to attack the cause of Alzheimers.

The drug has to be administered in a clinic and Morrow says the cost is very high.

The drug was approved in a split decision by the FDA and has received mixed reaction in the medical community.
