ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The 27th Annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is set for Saturday, May 11.
Postal workers will collect non-perishable food items to help stock local food shelves. Angie Cleberg, Community Impact Coordinator for the event, said that residents should have received blue bags in their mail boxes this week.
The event is the largest one-day food drive in America. Last year, the local drive collected 19,860 pounds of food and Cleberg would like to top that total this year. She said that all food collected stays in the community.
The local drive is a partnership between the Letter Carriers and the United Way of Northeastern South Dakota. Other sponsors include Dacotah Bank, Dial-A-Move, Primrose Retirement Communities, Sanford Health Aberdeen and Taco Johns.
Cleberg said that the food drive is no small event.
