PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,419. The state had 444 new cases and 522 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,065. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 271.
So far, South Dakota has had 172,744 cases and 163,260 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 249 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,484 cases and 7,128 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,671 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,201 and Lincoln County with 11,409, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,263, Brookings with 5,563, Meade with 5,051, Lawrence with 4,844, and Davison with 4,287.
Statewide 487,351 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 66% of the state) with 439,180 completing vaccination(under 55% of the state). Statewide 152,938 have received the booster shot(under 23% of the state).
Brown County has 22,432 receiving at least one shot & 20,909 completing vaccination. 7,782 receiving the booster shot.
