SD Dept of Health reports 12 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 12 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,486. The state had 809 new cases and 345 recoveries, increasing active infections to 8,323. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 240.

So far, South Dakota has had 179,204 cases and 168,395 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 19 new cases and 13 recoveries. The county currently has 256 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,679 cases and 7,316 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 43,580 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,859 and Lincoln County with 11,951, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,450, Brookings with 5,778, Meade with 5,192, Lawrence with 4,942, and Davison with 4,533.

Statewide 495,026 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 445,044 completing vaccination(over 55% of the state).  Statewide 170,430 have received the booster shot(over 26% of the state).

Brown County has 22,691 receiving at least one shot & 21,176 completing vaccination. 8,740 receiving the booster shot.
