PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,507. The state had 2,254 new cases and 420 recoveries, increasing active infections to 12,578. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 287.
So far, South Dakota has had 185,284 cases and 170,199 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 72 new cases and 11 recoveries. The county currently has 376 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,857 cases and 7,372 recoveries. There’s currently 109 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 45,550 cases, followed by Pennington County with 24,488 and Lincoln County with 12,472, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,596, Brookings with 5,968, Meade with 5,293, Lawrence with 5,053, and Davison with 4,634.
Statewide 497,502 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 68% of the state) with 446,775 completing vaccination(under 56% of the state). Statewide 175,448 have received the booster shot(under 27% of the state).
Brown County has 22,777 receiving at least one shot & 21,251 completing vaccination. 9,006 receiving the booster shot.
