SD Dept of Health reports 13 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 13 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,520. The state had 2,183 new cases and 393 recoveries, increasing active infections to 14,355. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 305.

So far, South Dakota has had 187,467 cases and 170,592 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 62 new cases and 10 recoveries. The county currently has 428 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,919 cases and 7,382 recoveries. There’s currently 109 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 46,266 cases, followed by Pennington County with 24,775 and Lincoln County with 12,658, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,624, Brookings with 6,066, Meade with 5,337, Lawrence with 5,107, and Davison with 4,686.

Statewide 498,380 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 68% of the state) with 447,201 completing vaccination(under 56% of the state).  Statewide 176,742 have received the booster shot(over 27% of the state).

Brown County has 22,822 receiving at least one shot & 21,276 completing vaccination. 9,093 receiving the booster shot.
