PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota legislative session got underway officially with Governor Kristi Noem’s State of the State speech. She highlighted her policy and spending priorities.
Senate Minority Leader Troy Heinert of Mission says the states finances are in good shape.
Heinert says he was disappointed the Governor didn’t talk about Covid-19.
Heinert says he and democrats will support solid housing plans.
House Majority Leader Kent Peterson of Salem says the states economy is solid.
Peterson says the budget is the priority.
Peterson says there will be intense debate over the available dollars.
Bill introduction continues and the first committee hearings will start this week.
