ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- As many have noticed, there is a large law enforcement presence in the area of N State St and 22nd Ave NE. Aberdeen Police were investigating the report of a stolen vehicle when police located the stolen vehicle being driven in town. The vehicle fled from law enforcement. A short time later the vehicle was located abandoned and law enforcement became aware that the suspect had entered an unrelated home. The home owner, who was not harmed, was able to exit the home. Law enforcement is currently attempting to get the suspect to peacefully exit the home. There is no one else in the home and there does not appear to be a risk to the public. The APD requests the public to avoid the area until the situation has been concluded. Because of the close proximity to CC Lee Elementary School, the school was put on lock down out of an abundance of caution.
