PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota legislature is wrapping up the first full week of the session and Senate Majority Leader Gary Cammack of Union Center says they have been busy.

Cammack says they are all aware of the responsibility of spending hundreds of millions of one time dollars.

Cammack says there will be a lot of debate on how best to spend those millions.

Governor Kristi Noem has proposed spending most of those federal dollars on infrastructure like water and sewer projects.

Bill introductions and committee activity is picking up for South Dakota legislators.

House Minority Leader, Representative Jamie Smith of Sioux Falls, says democrats will push their agenda.

Smith says too much time is spent on the so called “social issues” like transgender kids and pushing prayer in school.

Smith says legislative leaders don’t want to recognize that Covid-19 is still a problem.

As of Monday, there will be twenty-nine days remaining in the main run of the session.
