VERMILLION, S.D.(WNAX)- A Vermillion man is taking the first steps to become a democratic candidate for Governor.

Barry Hulse has filed campaign paperwork with the Secretary of States Office.

He says its time for a different direction for the state.

Hulse says state government has been on the same path for quite a while.

While facing long odds, Hulse says he got some advice from former democratic Senator Tom Daschle.

Hulse says it will be a challenge to get the sixteen hundred petition signatures needed before the end of March.
