PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The democratic party leader in the South Dakota House of Representatives is running for Governor.
At a news conference Tuesday in Pierre, Jamie Smith of Sioux Falls said his campaign isn’t about him.
Smith believes good government starts at the top.
Smith says if elected, he will respect the will of the people.
Smith will announce his choice for a Lieutenant Governor at a later date.
Smith may have a challenge for the democratic nominee for governor as Barry Hulse of Vermillion has filed paperwork to also run. The Noem for Governor campaign responded to Smith’s announcement saying Smiths voting record and values don’t align with the people of South Dakota and says he is a quote “extreme liberal” whose policies have been rejected by South Dakotans.
