PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency have fanned out across South Dakota, totaling up the damage to public infrastructure from March storms and flooding.

Governor Kristi Noem says they hope to get some totals from the inspection soon.

Noem says there is a different damage threshold for each county.

Noem says the counties have been working with the state to coordinate the needed information.

The FEMA work should lead Noem to ask for a Presidential disaster declaration which would lead to federal funding to help in repairs.
