SD Dept of Health reports 12 new COVID-19 related deaths(1 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 12 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,742. The state had 283 new cases and 1,638 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 13,248. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 259.

So far, South Dakota has had 233,008 cases and 217,018 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 11 new cases and 72 recoveries. The county currently has 769 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,060 cases and 9,176 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,475 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,124 and Lincoln County with 15,355, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,249, Brookings with 8,022, Meade with 6,845, Lawrence with 6,441, and Yankton with 5,847.

Statewide 513,006 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 460,864 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 203,355 have received the booster shot(over 31% of the state).

Brown County has 23,465 receiving at least one shot & 21,972 completing vaccination. 10,581 receiving the booster shot.
