PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- A resolution that redefines when life begins has passed South Dakota’s House State Affairs Committee.
The 8 to 4 vote sends the bill to the House floor. If approved by both the House and Senate, the proposed amendment to the state constitution would go before voters at the next general election.
Following the vote, the prime sponsor of the bill Steven Haugaard held a press briefing to talk more about the bill.
Haugaard tells the people that life begins at fertilization.
Haugaard wants the people to choose because legislators have failed in the process.
Haugaard talks about why this needs to be put in the South Dakota Constitution.
Haugaard feels abortion is based on science and not religion.
Haugaard compares this resolution to the bill passed out of Texas.
