PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Most tourists who travel to South Dakota each year come in cars and that makes gas prices a significant factor in visitation.
State Tourism Department Secretary Jim Hagen says they watch prices carefully and factor that in.
Hagen says so far they aren’t hearing much feedback about gas prices.
Another problem for tourism related businesses was finding enough employees to operate. Hagen says they are working with the businesses and other state agencies to come up with solutions.
South Dakota is coming off another record year in tourism with over four point four billion dollars spent by visitors in 2021.
