SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,784. The state had 425 new cases and 2,043 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 6,083. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 171.

So far, South Dakota has had 235,541 cases and 226,674 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 27 new cases and 132 recoveries. The county currently has 336 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,159 cases and 9,708 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,718 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,382 and Lincoln County with 15,419, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,320, Brookings with 8,056, Meade with 6,938, Lawrence with 6,524, and Yankton with 5,875.

Statewide 514,971 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 463,359 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 206,061 have received the booster shot(under 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,526 receiving at least one shot & 22,082 completing vaccination. 10,734 receiving the booster shot.
