SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,871. The state had 47 new cases and 90 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,635. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 65.

So far, South Dakota has had 236,797 cases and 231,291 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 2 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 153 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,260 cases and 9,986 recoveries. There’s currently 120 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,956 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,600 and Lincoln County with 15,465, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,388, Brookings with 8,087, Meade with 6,991, Lawrence with 6,553, and Yankton with 5,901.

Statewide 518,436 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 467,641 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 210,436 have received the booster shot(over 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,617  receiving at least one shot & 22,238 completing vaccination. 10,982 receiving the booster shot.

With average cases under 50 per day, starting next week, the South Dakota Department of Health will update on a weekly basis with updates being posted on Wednesdays.
