VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – Legislators questioned officials from the University of South Dakota about a plan to change the University Center in Sioux Falls into a community college.
Most members of the Joint Appropriations Committee were critical about the process used to make the change and the lack of information.
USD President Sheila Gestring says the mission of the Sioux Falls facility has not changed.
Gestring says they will do a better job in the future involving the legislature.
Senator Brock Greenfield of Clark was not happy with that response.
The Board of Regents has considered the facility in Sioux Falls part of USD and did not feel a separate budget process was needed.
