YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- With the goal of zero carbon emissions by 2050, the priority for Northwestern Energy is keeping the lights on.

Chief Executive Officer Bob Rowe says technology is at the heart of their goals.

Rowe says they have spent a lot on upgrading their system in the state.

Rowe says they will expand the use of new generation and transmission technology carefully.

The net zero goal will involve, wind, solar, hydro and natural gas power production units.
