SD Dept of Health reports 5 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,945. The state had 1,569 new cases and 1,006 recoveries, increasing active infections to 3,857. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 89.

So far, South Dakota has had 247,274 cases and 240,472 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 73 new cases and 28 recoveries. The county currently has 148 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,634 cases and 10,365 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 59,068 cases, followed by Pennington County with 34,704 and Lincoln County with 16,028, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,870, Brookings with 8,469, Meade with 7,401, Lawrence with 6,961, and Yankton with 6,142.

Statewide 528,511 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 74% of the state).

Brown County has 23,945 receiving at least one shot.
