ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – GROW South Dakota is hosting a Poverty Simulation event at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 13 at the K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library.
While the event is designed for people who work with the impoverished, it is really for everybody to help raise awareness of the day-to-day challenges of living in poverty, according to Pat Gallagher, Resource Development Director with GROW SD.
The event is free. Gallagher provided information on how to get signed up.
A light lunch will be provided from noon to 1 p.m. Reservations are required for those wishing to eat. Contact brittany@growsd.org
The event will feature role playing. While play money will be used, it is not a game. It is designed to bring awareness of the realities of living in poverty.
Gallagher said the event coincides with NeighborWorks Week.
