Hanson family members not happy with potential plea deal involving Brent Hanson

MILBANK, S.D.(KXLG)- In December of 2021, Brent Hanson had been arrested and charged initially with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder. When he allegedly killed his brother, his brother’s wife, and their unborn child.

Jasmine King, sister to victim Jessica Hanson, contacted KXLG  to express their disappointment with a potential plea agreement by Grant County States Attorney Jackson Schwandt. Scott Bratland is representing Brent Hanson.

King says Schwandt entered into the plea agreement without speaking to the family.

King says the family doesn’t feel this is justice.

King said they have reached out to the presiding Judge to request the plea agreement be rejected but have not received a reply.

King can handle any outcome if decided by a jury of his peers.

Hanson has court set for tomorrow around 10:45 am. They are potentially sentencing him to life in prison without parole.

KXLG News also reached out to States Attorney Jackson Schwandt for a statement, saying he would not be making any comment on the case.
