PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg declined to file an appeal to a Judges decision ruling IM24 unconstitutional. The deadline to file was Monday of this week.
Ravnsborg says they didn’t feel they would win on appeal.
IM24 was approved by voters in last year’s election and would have banned out of state contributions to ballot question committees.
Ravnsborg says they followed the law in supporting the initiative.
Ravnsborg says they had legal questions at the beginning of the case.
Former House Speaker Mark Mickelson of Sioux Falls was one of the leading supporters. The law was challenged by a number of business and media groups.
