PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- District 24 Representative-Elect Will Mortenson of Pierre will serve as Majority Leader in the House of Representatives.  He was elected to lead the super majority of Republican House members Saturday.

House Republicans were divided during last year’s session between moderate and more right-leaning members of the body, but Mortenson sees the party coming together.

Mortenson says the Legislature has some big issues facing them that need unity.

Republicans named Representative Taylor Rehfeldt of Sioux Falls will serve beside Mortenson as Assistant Majority Leader.  Representative Hugh Bartels of Watertown was elected to serve as Speaker of the House with Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton as Speaker Pro Tem.
