ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce’s Health and Wellness Committee will host a Wellness Symposium at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Johnson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Northern State.

The topic of this symposium will be opioid addiction.

Lisa Anderson, Director of Public Relations with the Chamber, discussed this year’s symposium.

Featured speakers will include Dr. Shawna Schmidt, Detective Brad Jung with the Aberdeen Police Department, Jamie Milbrandt of the Avera Addiction Center, and Melanie Weiss who will share her personal story of addiction.

Anderson said the opioid addiction is becoming more and more of an issue in today’s culture.

Avera Health is also sponsoring the event.

The question and answer session will take place an hour before the symposium.
