AMES, I.A.(WNAX)- Strong winds and very cold air will combine to create some dangerous conditions into the weekend.
Iowa state Climatologist Justin Glisan says frigid temperatures will plunge a long way south.
Glisan moderated this months North Central Region climate outlook and says most of winter will be influenced by the ongoing La Nina.
Glisan says those impacts are expected to start to fade by late winter into early spring.
Glisan says the trends for the next month point to cooler than normal temperatures with normal to above normal precipitation chances.
