Yankton, SD (WNAX) – The timeline for Congressional debate of the USMCA trade agreement is being pushed back. It now looks like the proposal won’t come up until after the August recess.

South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson says that appears to be the best case now.

Johnson says he wants to see the debate sooner rather than later.

Johnson says the US Trade Negotiator Robert Lighthizer has been working with Members on both sides.

The agreement between the US, Canada and Mexico would replace the twenty-five-year-old NAFTA deal.
