YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- With the threat of more nursing homes closing, the legislature needs to act.

Senator Jean Hunhoff of Yankton has sponsored a bill that would set up a study of nursing homes and long term care.

Hunhoff says the critical needs are increasing.

Hunhoff says the current system of nursing homes may not be sustainable.

The bill passed the Senate on a vote of thirty-four to zero. The funding for the study would be added later by the Appropriation Committee.
