ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release) – The Department of Human Services (DHS) Division of Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) is committed to ensuring that South Dakotans can live and receive services in the most integrated setting according to the individual’s preferences and needs. The Hope Waiver Program is designed to maximize the opportunities for participants in Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) programs. In an effort to make progress toward this initiative, LTSS recently expanded and enhanced home and community-based services for individuals eligible for the HOPE Waiver.
“K.O. Lee Adult Day Health Center at Bethesda focuses on healthy aging and provides family caregivers a unique option of short-term, daily skilled nursing care for a loved one in a welcoming environment; to be authorized as a Hope Waiver Program provider greatly expands opportunities for clients and caregivers in our region,” noted Scott Eisenbeisz, CEO /Administrator for Bethesda Aberdeen.
The K.O. Lee Adult Day Health Center is specifically designed for seniors who need supervision and stimulation between 8 am and 5 pm while their primary caregiver is at work, running errands or enjoying a personal day of relaxation. Instead of staying at home alone, clients enjoy social interaction and recreational activities in a safe and supportive environment.
“The Adult Day Health Center at Bethesda Aberdeen offers area families an innovative alternative to Assisted Living and Nursing Home Care,” stated Charity Pionk, Director of K.O. Lee Adult Day Health Center. “Our team provides on-site health care services which includes medication management, rehabilitation therapies and warm water therapy. With a focus on healthy living, one example is our exercise programs designed to maintain and increase strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.”
