YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The South Dakota legislature made some changes to the states open meetings law this year and those changes are now in effect.
Yankton City Manager Amy Leon says government officials can now talk about security issues in executive session.
Leon says expanding executive session topics isn’t meant to shut out the public.
Leon says the city commission has always set aside time for public input at all of their meetings.
The changes to executive session were official on July 1.
