WASHINGTON, D.C.(WNAX)- South Dakota Senator John Thune, ranking member of the Subcommittee on Communications, Media, and Broadband, spoke on the Senate floor about the Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology (RESTRICT) Act, his bipartisan legislation that would establish a risk-based process to identify and mitigate foreign-adversary threats to American information and communications technology. Thune says Chinese influence over Tik Tok is evident.

Thune says the RESTRICT act is broadbased.

Thune says the law is not aimed at individual Americans.

As a group committed to protecting the Constitutional rights of South Dakota citizens, the South Dakota Freedom Caucus is deeply concerned about the Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology (RESTRICT) Act. While the Act is intended to protect national security, we believe that it could have a detrimental impact on the Constitutional rights of our citizens.
