Aberdeen City Council discuss funds used for marketing & recruiting people to come to Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday, the Aberdeen City Council discuss whether to authorize allocations for marketing & recruiting people to do business in Aberdeen.  The council would authorize $20,000 for marketing & $120,000 for resident recruitment.

Aberdeen City Economic Development Manager Megan Kukowski(Ca-Cow-Ski) talks about the main goal of this funding.

Kukowski didn’t want to get in the way of other entities looking to promote the city.

Some members of the city council had concerns especially dealing with funding for marketing.  Councilwoman Tiffany Langer:

Langer move to table the $20,000 for marketing but received no second.

Councilwoman Erin Fouberg talks about getting feedback from everyone involved in promoting the city.

Councilman David Novstrup moved to table this for two weeks to get more feedback.

Kukowski wants to make sure whatever decision is made to make sure it offers positive vibes instead of negative.

The Aberdeen City Council agreed to table this for two weeks on a 6-1 vote(Councilman Rob Ronayne opposing).  This will allow all involved in promoting Aberdeen to get together.

The motto for this is Thrive in Aberdeen.
