ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – On Tuesday, the ink dried and Paula Krueger had two new assistant coaches to join her on the sideline. One of those coaches is Katie Bourk and she joined David Tukesbrey during Thursday’s edition of “The Sports Hub” on Fox Sports Aberdeen.
Bourk is a Blunt, SD native who spent the better part of the last decade in Sioux Falls as an assistant coach for Dave Krauth at Augustana University. Bourk talks about how she got the new gig in Aberdeen.
Being from rural South Dakota, Bourk grew up on a ranch, but was introduced to the game of basketball by a Northern State teammate of (then player) Paula Krueger.
In her college days, Bourk was a Trojan from Dakota State University. Dealing with a back injury early in her career, she realized that coaching soon was calling her name.
She’ll join fellow assistant coach Josh Lees in Aberdeen on the sidelines (with Coach Krueger) coming up this fall.
In the back half of the show, former Presentation College & Northern State baller, Haley Froelich joined Tukes. Froelich was just named the new head golf coach for Clarke University in IA + the new WBB assistant coach.
She reminisced about her time in Aberdeen as a member of the Saints & Wolves.
When she jumped to the south side of town to be Wolf, Froelich played for historic head coach, Curt Fredrickson. She described what it was like to play for him.
She’ll be headed to Clarke University on the sidelines for basketball + the head golf coach. Froelich is going to a program that won the national championship last year. She talks about how humbling it was to get the phone call.
