ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio & Audio from KCCR)- The landowners all across South Dakota on Thursday held a Private Property Rights Roundup at the Capitol Rotunda in Pierre.

Landowner Mark Lapka from Leola explains the purpose of the event.

Lapka calls on Governor Kristi Noem to call a special session to show her support for private property rights.

Landowner Jared Bossly told the audience about his ordeal with Summit Carbon Solutions surveyors.

Landowner Ed Fischbach told the audience landowners are under attack by foreign entities.

Fischbach explains what happened to Bossly and his family could happen to anyone.

Fischbach talks about how Senator Lee Schoenbeck was able to convince the South Dakota PUC to move the path of the pipeline away from properties in the Watertown area.

Among those that also spoke was the former Libertarian candidate for the U.S. House seat Collin Duprel.  Duprel called Summit a criminal organization.

Duprel is working on amendment to deal with initiated measures that was introduced by independent Brian Bengs.

Another person that spoke was the Democrat Representative Oren Lesmeister from Parade.  Lesmeister talks about citizens need to ban together to work on private property rights.

Republican Representative Karla Lems from Canton also spoke at the event.  Lems reminds the people that this issue is not just a South Dakota issue.

All the speakers today represented different political parties.  Lems told the gathering that this is not a partisan issue.

Over 2,000 petitions were dropped off at the Governor’s office after the event.

Landowners in our regions will be holding a meeting in Mellette on Sunday at 7pm.
