Saints Fall Short in Semis To Comets

Watertown, SD (PlayNorthStar.com) Mayville State made their trip back to the North Star Men’s Basketball Postseason Tournament for the second straight year after holding off Presentation by the score of 79-75.  The Comets led 35-29 at halftime and never trailed in the second-half to secure the victory.  The Saints could get no closer than two points in several occasions in the second-half, but the Comets pulled away for the victory.  Four players scored in double digits for MSU, led by Gorg Alhag with 15 points.  He also had seven rebounds and seven assists.  Eric Staebler posted a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Daniel Lindgren had 13 points.  Max Cooper scored 10 points.

Vincent Eugene led the Saints with 18 points.  Quadre Lollis and Ange-Michel Kuo each had 15 points.  Mychal Deas and Jalen Guidry each tallied 10 points.  PC shot 46.3 percent from the field (31-of-67) compared to MSU 45.6 percent (26-of-57).  Mayville State converted 23-of-31 free-throws while Presentation was 9-of-16 free-throws.
