WHITE OWL, S.D.(KBHB)– The small Meade County town of White Owl will celebrate 130 years during a special ceremony this weekend.
Resident Grant Simons talked about some the planned events taking place this Sunday.
The Old Timers Round Table begins at 10:00 a.m. with the parade to be held at 2:00 p.m. following lunch at Noon. The White Owl History Series is taking place at 3:00 p.m. and the Jam Session is at 5:00 p.m.
Simons says the town has persevered even after burning down in November of 1912.
He says White Owl at times was actually bigger than Rapid City. It was established in 1893 and he wonders if the town may have grown more exponentially if it wasn’t for the 1912 fire.
