SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The transition continues from the University Center into the Community College for Sioux Falls.
South Dakota Board of Regents President Kevin Schieffer says the changes are necessary.
The college will focus on underserved students in the Sioux Falls area.
While the college will be a cooperative effort between USD, South Dakota State and Dakota State, it will now be a distinct college under USD.
Some legislators had been critical of the way the changes were made and wanted a sperate budget for the community college.
Schieffer says the focus has to be on the operations of the college.
The ribbon cutting for the community college will be next Wednesday (July 24) at the former University Center in Sioux Falls.
