WASHINGTON, D.C.(KMIT)- South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds moderated a closed-door forum with major leaders of the tech industry on Wednesday. The topic at hand was AI, or artificial intelligence. Top tech leaders including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates were among those participating. In an appearance on MSNBC, Rounds said the tech leaders acknowledged that there needs to be regulations regarding AI.
He says one challenge will be gathering expertise on AI.
Rounds says the tech leaders have an interest in keeping AI development in the U.S.
The senator adds that AI is already being extensively used in the military.
Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer joined Rounds in moderating Wednesday’s tech forum.
