PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A recently completed study of Pierre’s electric system is recommending nearly eight-million dollars in a two-phase plan to keep the city’s electric grid in top operating condition. Andy Koob with D-G-R Engineering says the study shows electric load growth hasn’t increased as expected, but.
Koob says future load growth remains projected in the northeast side of Pierre. The Phase One improvements would go from 2022 to 2025.
Koob says while the improvements were planned out under a 10 year schedule, he believes the updates could be done within seven years.
The original study was completed in October of 2009. Nearly 20-million dollars in upgrades have been made to the system over the last 13 years. Koob is recommending updating the study every three to five years to check progress with the upgrades.
