Aberdeen Central High School hosted Veterans Day ceremony

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Tuesday(Veterans Day), Aberdeen Central High School hosted their annual Veteran Day Ceremony honoring those who served in the military.

The keynote speaker was Major Maria Schaffhauser who last year was deployed in the Middle East.  She is the daughter of retired Brigadeer General Joel De Groot.

Schaffhauser talks about what it means to be a veteran.

Schaffhauser discussed each generations beginning with those who served in World War II.

Schaffhauser talked about those who served during the Korean & Vietnam Wars.

Schaffhauser talked about those who spent time in the Middle East.

Schaffhauser discuss those currently serving now.

Schaffhauser talk sacrifices made by those who are serving in the military.

Schaffhauser left a message for the students at Aberdeen Central High School.

The program was sponsored by the Aberdeen VFW and the Aberdeen Legion.

Veterans Day is honored on November 11th since 1919 when back then it was known at Armistice Day.  It was changed to Veterans Day in 1954.
